Mama Mia!

Before we met up with our API group, we traveled with our Moms to Paris, Nice, Venice, Florence, and Rome! It was so great to spend quality mother-daughter bonding time with Vicki and Kimmie! Some of the highlights in Paris were: going on a river cruise down the Siene, seeing a show at Moulin Rouge, and watching the Eiffel Tower light up!

 River Cruise

Some of our other favorite hot spots in Paris were the Louvre, Notre Dame, Versailles, Champs Elysees, and the Arc de Triomphe. Nicole accidentally ordered Salmon...tar tar style, on her first night. We missed our tour bus and the whole group had to come back to base and get us : /  We had thought we packed light until we had to go up and down flights of stairs in the train station and on and off of water taxis. Needless to say, the moms took a lot back with them.

There was a bridge in Paris with a bunch of locks on it! Lovers put locks on the fence to signify their love for one another! The myth is, that once the lock falls off you'll have everlasting love. It was too good to pass up!

The Lourve at night!
Our Next stop was Venezia! Where cars do not exist, but the best Italian food does! Lobster Pasta...need we say more? The way to travel is by water taxi or the slower option, a Gondola!

The canal is scattered with colorful villas and flower boxes. The island of Murano is famous for their master glass blowers. The island of Burano is famous for the colorful houses and lace work.

Live music, bellinis, street vendors and pigeons make up San Marco square in Venice.

Kimmie and Kasey then went to Nice, where the beaches are covered in pebbles...and topless women. Went parasailing to get a better look at the coast! While Kimmie snd Kase were checking out the topless women, Vicki and Nicole were checking out naked men in Florence....well, statues of them. They went to the Pitti Palace, Uffizi, and Academia where Michelangelo's David stands!

They also ate too much gelato...yikes! And Nicole made yet another food mistake and ordered apple juice at dinner......as you can see, in Italy, its REALLY scary apple juice!

Here are some funny pics from their hotel where they stayed in Florence called the Hotel Mona Lisa. Who knew she was such a sinner???

Vicki and Nicole also went to Tuscany for the day to goto a wine tasting and then to PISA! The wine tasting was at an organic farm where they ate some of the food grown there. One of the things they ate was spaghetti with meat sauce. The only problem was, the "meat sauce" was from the adorable cows that Nicole had pet 20 minutes earlier. She was NOT okay when she made the realization.

In Roma, we took a tour of the "Vatican". And we put this in quotations because it was not what we thought it was going to be. However, the Sistine Chapel was beautiful, even though the guards were yelling at everyone to be quiet.

The churches require covered shoulders and knees; but Nicole, being the slut that she is, was asked to pull down her skirt halfway down her butt to cover her sinning legs. St. Peter's was extravagant to say the least and we saw Michelangelo's famous ceiling!

That night we ate dinner and took ourselves on a walking tour through the city, thanks to Rick Steves. Our favorite was the Trevi Fountain, where we threw in coins to assure our return to Roma and grant us a wish.

Vicki and Nicole trucked over to the Colosseum one afternoon--and it was MUCH better than the Vatican. The ancient ruins were very cool, and they even saw the place where Caesar was burned. Nicole also gave the famous "Friends, Romans, Countrymen" speech to the tourists....

 Lend me your ears!

The mommies left :( but....were ready to get back home. Then we met our API group! And did the sightseeing, all over again.

The Colosseum was extremely hot and our tour guide Emanuele was a slow slow speaker full of lots of minute details. The best part of the first day was meeting our new roommies and hanging out with people that speak English!

We opted out of standing in the two hour long line for the Vatican since we had already been to that party. And instead went on a mission for some food....and look what we found!!! Nom nom nom...

On our second night in Roma, we went out in Piazza Navona to a bar that served 1 euro shots...American style. Then to the other side of the river in a neighborhood called Travestere, where we found a bar that played rap music from our middle school era!!

Next.....we're off to Florence!!!
