A View Worth Seeing

So it's been awhile...yeah yeah, we know! But better late than never right?! Once we got back to the Amalfi Coast we went and climbed the Duomo! The Duomo is the centerpiece of Florence and serves as the most popular cathedral. The dome of the building was the first ever to be built without a supporting frame--a huge feat during the Renaissance. Today, it is still the largest brick dome ever constructed.....



The stairwell up was a narrow one, and got even tighter with each step. This climb was not for the faint hearted my friends!! Once emerging from the tiny hole in the dome we could see all of Tuscany! Take a look yall....

With the Duomo towering over the city it was hard to get lost in Florence. "When in doubt find the Duomo!" And the front steps served as a social scene for city dwellers. Florentines and tourists alike would meet here to enjoy the city's charismatic atmosphere, live music, and of course, a few bottles of wine. But we wouldn't know about that now, would we.......
