After getting off the bus we went to a pizza tasting! The restaurant we went to had the BIGGEST lemons we had EVER seen! It was CRAZY!!
We tried 4 different types of pizza---and yes, we made ourselves sick to our stomachs. We won’t be eating pizza for a while….We took a trip into Positano, a small village at the bottom of a humongous mountain.
So you know what that means—MORE HIKING! We went down a total of 613 steps (someone in our group counted….we were too busy gasping for air behind everyone else) so that meant another 613 on the way back up! Our calves were SO sore the whole weekend. We went to a bunch of cute shops and the famous shoe-making store. And for all you 7th Heaven fans out there, we ran into Beverly Mitchell. Like every other celebrity on vacay, she wasn’t lookin so hot.
The next day we went to Capri, one of the most gorgeous islands in the world. If you don’t believe us just know that this is where they film the Dolce and Gabana ads for their “Light Blue” perfume.
We took a hydrofoil from Sorrento to Capri (a boat that glides on the water so it goes much faster!) and once arriving we hopped on another boat to tour around the island. We saw the three famous grottos—the White Grotto, Green Grotto, and most notorious Blue Grotto. Unfortunately, the tide was too high and the waves too rough to actually go inside the Blue Grotto, but this is what it looks like! We were pretty bummed, but cheered up after spending a day relaxing on the beach collecting tons of sea glass J
After returning from Capri, our API leaders suggested a delicious restaurant down by the water. On our way we ran into some unexpected celebs! Mickey and Minnie! We went down to dinner at “the restaurant” only to find that we had gone to the wrong one. And our friend mistakenly ordered “mixed fried fish”---uh oh. We were all SHOCKED when they came out with a plate full of fish with heads, tails, eyes, and teeth!
Our last day was spent in Pompeii, the ancient village destroyed by Mt. Vesuvius’ volcanic eruption. The town was amazing and surprisingly still intact considering how long ago the disaster happened.
Crouching man who couldn't escape the eruption
Our lovely tour guide took us all around the town and even to the brothel. To get to the brothel we had to follow some “interesting shaped arrows” that were marked on the ground.
After visiting Pompeii we hopped back on the bus and made our way back to Firenze to pass out from our adventures….or maybe….it was the overdose of Lemoncello.
